A few days ago I got to catch up with the very talented Darren Kennedy. How did I find him… Instagram.
It is actually how funny , how many people I have become friends with through social media.
What I loved about Darren’s style was , it was soo cool and edgy! Very Kanye style!Yes there are fashionable men in Perth but his style is so “L.A” and you all know how obsessed I am with L.A.
So I had to grab that opportunity and contact him! Let me tell you he was even cooler in person! He has an American Accent but was born in Scotland. Awesome hey! I was also soo intrigued because there aren’t many male bloggers in Perth, so it’s cool discovering some.
Here are a few things we spoke about:
Tell me about yourself:
I am a male fashion blogger and designer. I grew up in Scotland , moved to Perth, lived and studied in Sydney for a while and now back in Perth. I absolutely love Travel and drawing inspiration from that.
Have you networked (online or in person) with another male blogger)?
Yeah, I started blogging with my friend, who also has his own blog and then I moved to Sydney and it just moved its natural course. I do like networking with other bloggers I find on Instagram, I love people who don’t drag people down.
My whole mentality is uplifting and supporting people, wouldn’t you rather have an allie than an enemy.
Also, I like to network with people that have the same sort of goals, on the same page.
Do you feel pressure as a male blogger?
I just think everyone is on their own journey, you should just do you, wear what you want to wear and if it works for you continue. Especially in this industry, people bring you down if you let it.
The only person you should compete with is yourself. I am always trying to push myself and see what I can do next, keep the ball rolling
Where do you find inspiration for your blog or designs?
I always find inspiration from travel. my first collection was about blue, white, that sports luxe sort of look, inspired by the sport baseball. This collection is more apparel inspired , very American style.
What do you see in the future for your blog/designs?
I see, definitely living in the U.S, probably L.A, I also love New York or Texas. Have my own store and making sure my blog has some more cool content. I would rule out reality TV (me neither)
and now check out his style!
